Wearing Nudes

Wearing Nudes

This season, everyone is going nude! No, not as in flesh, but flesh tones - as outerwear, lip color and shoe palettes.

Color Analyst Lauren Battistini says nudes can be difficult to wear, especially for fair skin tones because they tend to look washed out. People who can carry off nude colors best are those who are tan or have darker skin tones because there's more contrast between their skin and clothes.

Here are some other nude tips:

Nude Lips:

  • First find a lipstick shade that matches your lip color exactly
  • Then, shop for a gloss with shimmer in the correct shade for your undertone:
    • Cool undertones -- pink shimmer
    • Neutral undertones -- beige or taupe shimmer
    • Warm undertone -- gold shimmer
  • Be sure to also brighten your cheek and eye colors so you don't look washed out
Nude Clothes:
" The same rules apply when wearing nude clothing. Know your undertone.
    • Cool undertones -- pinkish nudes
    • Neutral undertones -- beige or taupe colors
    • Warm undertone -- peachy nudes
Nude Shoes:
  • Perfect for elongating the look of your leg
  • Be sure to match the color of your shoe to your skin color exactly or the effect won't be seamless
