Raw Diet Meal Ideas

If you are trying to lose those pesky holiday pounds why not try out the Raw Food Diet? Chelsea and Angus from Rawlicious restaurants have created the ultimate raw cookbook. Say goodbye to your oven and hello to your dehydrator!

Breakfast: Overnight Oatmeal

If you thought oats were out of the question for the raw diet, think again.

  • Simply soak your oat groats overnight. They will be soft enough to eat in the morning.
  • Blend up with banana, cinnamon, maple syrup and 1/4 cup boiling water -- yes boiling water! As long as the internal temperature doesn't pass 118F you are still eating raw.
Lunch: Thai Burgers

Burgers are always a craving that cannot be squashed. These burgers will leave you feeling full and satisfied.

The patties are made from a mixture of mushrooms, seeds, herbs and spices that are then dehydrated for 12 hours. Always think about sauces you can use to enhance the flavour experience, we used marinara, pad Thai and salsa.

Snack: Sweet Potato Chips

Who doesn't love chips? This is definitely something hard to replicate but Rawlicious has done it! These chips are crunchy and can be seasoned any way you like and are sure to nip your chip cravings.

Ready available snacks are one of the most important things in a raw diet. These chips are created in the dehydrator.

Dinner: Sprouted Buckwheat Pizza

The great thing about pizza is you can make it with any of your favourite flavours! This Mexican pizza is topped with cashew cheese, 'refried beans', olives, guacamole and salsa.

It's hard to create soft, fluffy bread products but Chelsea and Angus are proud of this one -- it's similar to their burger bun recipe.

Dessert: Brownie with Vanilla Icing

No matter what diet you are on, you need and crave dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole walnuts
  • 50 Medjool dates. Soaked for 1-2 minutes and then pitted.
  • 6 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla.
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup agave nectar
  • 1/2 cup coconut butter
Instructions

1. Puree the whole walnuts, dates, cacao, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla in a food processor. Transfer to a bowl.

2. Fold in chopped walnuts.

3. Press into an 8x8 parchment lined brownie pan.

4. Whisk together agave nectar, coconut butter and remaining vanilla.

5. Spread on top and chill in the fridge for one hour or until set.
