Make Your Own Infused Oils

Looking Steven and Chris share three easy ideas to add some fun flavors to your oils! They are perfect for enhancing your cooking and baking.

Ingredients

Rosemary Olive Oil

  • 2-3 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 2 cups olive oil

Lemon Almond Oil

  • 1 lemon
  • 2 cups almond oil

Chili Oil

  • 2 tbsp dried chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 2 cups olive oil

Preparation

For Rosemary Olive Oil

Make sure your rosemary is as clean and dry as possible.

To medium pot, add rosemary and olive oil. Place over medium heat and warm just below simmering point for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let oil stand for a few hours to infuse flavor. Strain and pour into a clean, sterilzed glass jar. Store in the fridge for up to a month.

Great for: Serving with balsamic vinegar and bread for dipping, salad dressings, marinades, drizzling over roast meat and vegetables.

For Lemon Almond Oil

Wash and dry lemon well. Using a vegetable peeler, peel only the yellow parts of the skin. Remove any white pith.

To medium pot, add lemon peel and almond oil. Place over medium heat and warm just below simmering point for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let oil stand for a few hours to infuse flavor. Strain and pour into clean, sterilzed glass jar. Store in the fridge for up to a month.

Great for: Baking - add to your muffins, scones, pancakes or waffles for a hint of lemon-almond flavor.

For Chili Olive Oil

To medium pot, add dried chili flakes, paprika and olive oil. Place over medium heat and warm just below simmering point for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let oil stand for a few hours to infuse flavor. Strain and pour into clean, sterilzed glass jar. Store in the fridge for up to a month.

Great for: Drizzling over everything! Try it on pasta dishes, pizza, anywhere you need a little hit of warm heat.

A Few Safety Tips

We recommend you wash and sterilize your glass jars, to prevent bacteria from growing in your finished oils. Store prepared oils in the fridge for up to a month.
