Beauty Master Class: Perfect Eyebrows

Eyebrows are the architecture of the face, and beauty expert Sandy Gold shows how to master the perfect pair.

You'll need:

  • A good pair of sharp-slanted tweezers
  • White eyeliner pencil
  • An eyebrow comb and scissors
  • An eyebrow pencil

1. Shape

First determine where your eyebrow should start, end and where to place your arch. Here's how:

  • Take an eyeliner pencil and line the bottom with the outer edge of your nose. Then, align the top of the pencil with the inner corner of your eye. This is where your eyebrow should start. Anything to the left of the comb, you pluck.
  • To find the arch you should move the pencil to align with the center of your pupil. This is where your arch should be and the highest point of your eyebrow.
  • The end of your eyebrow is where you pencil ends when lined up with the outer corner of your eye.
  • Any hair to the right of the pencil, you pluck.

2. Pluck

  • Before you start plucking, take a white eyeliner pencil and cover the hairs you want to remove. This way you will see a rough outline of your brow shape before committing to removing the hair.
  • Pluck in the direction of hair growth

3. Trim

  • With an eyebrow brush, brush your brows upwards at an angle in the direction of the brow. If you notice any hairs are noticeably longer, trim with small eyebrow scissors.

4. Fill

  • Fill in any spare areas with an eyebrow pencil.
  • Pencil only the areas that need it, as you want to create the appearance of real hair.
  • If you have dark hair, choose a shade that is one to two shades lighter than your hair color. For blondes use taupe, redheads use a warm brown or auburn.
  • Finish the look by combing them through to soften the pencil and blend out the color.
