Lumpia Filipino Egg Roll

  • 1 lb ground beef or pork
  • 3-5 large cloves of garlic
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup of julienne or shredded carrots
  • 1 cup of french cut green beans
  • 2 cups bean sprouts
  • 1 pack lumpia or spring roll egg wrappers - 25-30 wrappers (Found at most asian grocery stores in the freezer)
  • 1 egg
  • frying oil
  • Fish sauce (optional)
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • a pinch of salt and pepper


Heat 2-3 tablespoons of oil. Then add your garlic and onions. Cook for 3 minutes or so then add ground beef. Once ground beef is browned, add your veggies. Cook for a few minutes, careful not to overcook your veggies.

Take an egg roll wrapper, with 2 tablespoons of the filling, place in the middle of the wrapper. Roll from bottom to top tucking in the sides. Using egg or water to seal the ends. It a deep skillet or deep fryer, get your cooking oil to a temperature of about 350 degrees. Fry for about 5 minutes and keep moving them in the oil (turning them) so they do not burn. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

For dipping sauce: Mix together vinegar, minced garlic, salt and pepper for dipping sauce for lumpia.
