North Shore Travel Tips

Tags: Motion

Planning your trip to Lake Superior can be easy and rewarding if you follow a few simple tips.

Summer and fall are the best times of year to see this spectacular stretch of shoreline between Duluth and the Split Rock Lighthouse.

Two Harbors, Minnesota, is the perfect place to "base camp" along scenic Route 61.

In summer, be prepared for mosquitoes and biting black flies. The flies are resistant to bug spray so long pants and sleeves are the best protection.

Be sure to hit the Split Rock Lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls state parks along the way.

Pull the car over wherever it's safe and just explore the raw shoreline of the world's largest freshwater lake.
