Spring 2012 Runway Trends

We scanned rows of fashion shows for the spring trends you should know.

Neiman Marcus fashion director Ken Downing and public relations drector Stacey Swift say this season is about color, color, and more color.

Here are the most sought-after looks from the runways:

  • Pink
    • The most notable shade of the season
    • It's everywhere -- shoes, bags, lipsticks
    • Worn from head to toe in any shade from muted pink to hot pink to neon pink
  • Yellow
    • Sunshine yellow as a neutral
    • Bags, shoes, pants

    • Chiffon emphasizes the idea of fluidity and flow
    • Shouldn't automatically equal sheer
    • Lace

    • In every shape in color (from geometric to floral)
    • Especially for pants
    • Tribal is the biggest print of the season
    • Particulary African-inspired colors and patterns

    • An interesting, bright-colored bottom or a printed pant
    • From silk, bold print trousers to leggings to skinny jeans

    • "The Scuba Suit" -- a dress or yoga top made of really neoprene fabric, with a big zipper
    • Athletic look is as casual as you make it (sneakers or flats vs. heels)

    • Long, Dramatic Earrings
    • "More is more and less is a bore," says Ken.
    • The most important accessory of the season
    • Pair it with a suite of jewelry
