Ombre Hair

In our never ending search to extend the time between color touch-ups, we discovered a new hair color technique promising to rid us of ugly roots once and for all.

"The ombre trend is different from traditional highlighting because there's nothing around the hairline or through the part. So, it's great for women who only want to be in the salon maybe four times a year because they don't have to worry about their new growth showing," says celebrity hair stylist Jason Backe from the Ted Gibson salon.

It works by accenting the shape of your face and hair cut with hair color that's hidden underneath the top layers of hair. However, the hair color never touches the roots. The result is a grown-out look with sun-bleached ends.

Jason says this technique works best for shoulder-length to long hair, but ask your stylist because there are always variations available.
