New Skin Super Heroes

We're all on the crusade for younger, better looking skin. Not to fear, the beauty industry's newest skin super heroes are here!

"One of the most exciting things about the skincare industry is that there's always a new technology and new active ingredient being introduced designed to fight the aging process," says salon owner Rachel Gower.

Here's Rachel's list of "New Skin Super Heroes":

If you're looking for an all over skin corrector and who isn't? You might want to check out the new Lancome Product called Visionnaire. It has a new molecule called LR2412, and it's designed to penetrate the skin and help with everything from enlarged pores, fine lines, wrinkles, even acne scarring. (available at Sephora for about $105)

If you're starting to struggle with a sagging eye lid on top and on the bottom and some redness, maybe dark circles under the eyes, then you might be interested in a product by Nicholas Perricone. He's developed a product called acyl-gluthathione eye serum. Acyl-glutathione is a molecule that helps to replenish the natural glutathione in your skin. Because glutofione is an antioxidant, when our skin loses it, we start to see the starts of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and dryness. This product is designed for the upper eye lid, but you can also use it on the lower eye lid and use it twice a day for best results. (available at Sephora for about $115)

One of the most frustrating signs of aging is the loss of elasticity and collagen, which results in the skin starting to sag and other signs of aging such wrinkles and large pores, and just an overall dullness. If this is something you're struggling with, you might want to try the newest product from Neocutis. Neocutis uses a special component called PSP, which is a combination of growth factors. PSP has been shown to penetrate all the way to the dermis, which is the underlying layer of skin. It can thicken the dermis and stimulate collagen. So, if you can stimulate collagen, not only are you fixing problems from the past, but you're also preventing future problems. (available through physicians for about $200)

If you've ever felt like you just want to turn back the hands of time, then you might be interested in the newest skincare super hero, telomerase enzyme. A telomere is an indicator on each cell of the health of the cell. So the longer and healthier the telomere, the healthier the cell, which means the healthier the skin looks. The only product that has this special enzyme is from Jan Marini, and it's called the Age Intervention Regeneration Booster. So, the product comes with six tiny bottles, one bottle for each week. They call it a booster because you really only need to do the system about two to three times a year. (available at salons for about $225)

Have you ever wished you could get Botox, plus just an overall hydrated look without going to the doctor's office? If this is what you're looking for, then start with a product that contains the newest eight-sided peptide. My favorite is from a company called Rx Clinical, and the product is called Snap 8. Snap 8 is special because it uses the highest percentage approved by the FDA of this eight-sided peptide. This peptide helps make other products absorb into the skin and work harder. (available for about $100)

If you want to get rid of all those fine lines, you can follow your Snap 8 with Snake Serum. Don't worry, it's not real snake venom. It's synthetic snake venom that's designed to mimic Botox. (available for about $100)

Most people who are concerned about aging skin also know about laser treatments. If you have a darker complexion, laser treatments can actually cause more harm than good. So, if your skin is in need of overall repair and regeneration, you might want to try the newest product from Peter Thomas Roth. This product contains a complex called Dragon's Blood. Really, it's a naturally red extract that comes from a tree in the Amazon. Dragon's blood is known for its ability to heal and repair the skin without the laser. (available at Ulta for about $75)

As with most technology, the price tag tends to be high, so if you're fighting the signs of aging, but you don't have the budget for the higher priced items, try a plant-based technology. Rachel recommends a set of products by Eclos. The starter kit has everything you could possibly need, including your cleanser, facial serum, eye serum, even a weekly mask. After two weeks, you should start to see results. (available at Walgreens for about $20)
