Fly Coach, Dress First Class

They're the runways we usually don't dress up for -- airports! We spend so much time packing, that our outfit for the plane is usually just up in the air. So, here's how to fly coach, but dress first class!

Luvi Wheelock, owner of Atrium Ready to Wear, says think about four things when you're getting dressed to travel.

"You want to wear something that's very comfortable. You want to wear something that doesn't wrinkle easily. And you want to wear something that isn't fussy, because you've got to go through that long security line," says Wheelock. But most importantly, she says, think about your destination!

For a tropical destination:

  • Comfy worn-in jeans (not white!)
  • Wedges
  • Loose, flowy shirt
  • A large tote
  • Jewelry that comes off easily (for security)
For a warm climate city:
  • An A-line dress (not form-fitting)
  • Flats (tuck heels in your bag)
  • A scarf
  • Crisp jacket (loose or with stretch)
For a cool climate city:
  • Skinny jeans
  • Cardigan sweater
  • Twilly scarf (worn as a bracelet, too!)
For a business trip:
  • Black sheath dress (with a little detail like embroidery)
  • Pearls
  • Scarf (polishes your look and keeps you warm on the plane)
