Fashion Trend: How To Mix Textures in Outfit
One of this season's hot fashion trends is mixing textures. However, it takes a little bit of thought to pull the perfect mix-and-match look together.
Rebecca Matthews -- Wardrobe Consultant:
"This season is all about color and graphic arts. You're going to see a lot of that, so mixing it all together can sometimes be hard. The one thing you want to do is to stick to one piece that really is the statement. Then, have little pieces of other textures. The trick to mixing textures is mixing a little bit of everything, not a lot."
Karli Gillum -- Personal Stylist/Fashion Blogger:
"When mixing textures, you want to start out simple. For example, a bold suede short along with the fringe silk top. Now, you would normally wear these two pieces separately, but together they make a bold texture combo. To stick with only mixing two textures, add a cute suede bootie to go along with the suede shorts."
Bridget Boggess -- Wardrobe Stylist:
"Stay with one color family, I started with a purple silk pleated skirt, I added a purple cotton top, threw a little silk pink jacket over it and then added gray in my accessories, snakeskin belt and suede shoes. It's easier to mix textures when you pick one neutral and kind of incorporate throughout the entire outfit."
Emily Elliott -- Wardrobe Consultant:
"When I'm mixing textures, I usually start with one key piece. Today, it's my brocade pant. I have a great chambray shirt that I found in my closet and then I've mixed it with a cotton cardigan that's embellished at the top. The key to mixing textures is to keep it by season and in the same color groups."
