DIY Color Boosters

You can color your hair with ingredients you have in your kitchen.

Owner of The Upper Hand Salon, Rachel Gower, shares these recipes, but she says to check with your stylist if you already color your hair. These are best for those who like to go natural.

To boost blonde hair color, mix in food processor:
Juice from one lemon
One raw, grated potato
1/2 cup chamomile tea (cooled)
Apply to hair, put on a shower cap and heat hair for a few minutes, then rinse.

To boost brunette hair color, mix:
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup yogurt
1 teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Apply to damp hair, leave for a few minutes and rinse out.

To boost red hair color, mix in food processor:
3 carrots
2 tablespoons of honey
3 tablespoons of plain yogurt
A handful of cranberries
Cover washed, dry hair in the mixture, massage for a minute and rinse.
