Becoming a Fitness Expert

Erin Stewart is a natural foods chef and a DEFINE Body and Cycling instructor. She is the epitome of a healthy lifestyle.

"DEFINE Body is a combination of Pilates and yoga, along with core strengthening at the ballet barre. It's a full body workout using isometric movements to really change the shape of your body and DEFINE Revolution is our take on indoor cycling," Erin says.

Along with teaching these classes, Erin believes you are what you eat.

"I went to the Natural Gourmet school in NYC where I learned to eat for you -- for your mind and body and feel your absolute best. I cook with organic, local, natural foods with a focus on healing," she describes.

But now, she's concentrating on growing a fitness brand.

"I found DEFINE Body and Mind and Henry Richardson. It was the same technique I was teaching in NY, and I just wanted to be involved. For me, my learning curve is franchising DEFINE with Henry. It's a new part of the business I've never known before, so it's learning something new every day," she says.

To get to this point in her career, it took lots of work.

"I've been dancing my whole life when I moved to NY to be a dancer and throughout the audition world, I needed to make ends meet and started teaching classes. Eventually, I got into the fitness and health industry from all different directions. It really was not easy. It's an industry where you really have to be on the go and willing and able to multi-task. There were days where I was running from a dance audition and I had to go make sure the cookies were coming out of the oven on time to be packaged and shipped for the order for my cookie company and then running right back to where I was teaching my ballet barre classes, to make sure I was there on time for my clients and shifts," she describes.

Work hard and, Erin says, find your niche and become an expert.

"What do you want to teach? Who do you want to be? What kind of teacher do you want to be? You have to put in a lot of hours, a lot of commitment and time, and find the right group for you. Being in the fitness industry, you really have to be selfless. You have to want to help others and help them see changes and be their very best," Erin says.
