  • 25 pieces stale white sandwich bread, diced
  • 6 golden delicious apples, peeled and diced
  • 3 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoon powdered thyme
  • 1 teaspoon rubbed sage
  • 2-1/2 cups milk (more or less depending on the bread)
  • 1 cup dried sour cherries
  • 1 cup nuts (almonds and pistachios are great)
  • 2 eggs, beaten

1. Combine all the ingredients, mixing gently as not to mash the stuffing. When adding the milk, add just enough to make the stuffing moist without it becoming soupy.

2. Place in a 9 x 13 baking dish and bake in a 350-degree oven until the stuffing reaches 165 degrees using an instant read thermometer which takes about 45 minutes.
