DIY Trendy Upholstered Bar Stools

Here's how to take plain bar stools and turn them into trendy pieces that look like high-end global style with this easy DIY project.

Take your standard, boring bar stools and step them up a notch by upholstering the top using inexpensive woven or faux sheepskin rugs.

Materials Needed:
  • bar stool
  • paint
  • painters tape
  • kilim rug
  • faux sheepskin
  • staple gun
1. Search your local thrift stores for bar stools. We found ours for $5 a piece! Paint the legs your desired color.

2. Turn the stool upside down on the underside of the rug and trace it leaving 2-3 inches of extra fabric all the way around. Cut the rug to size and pull it tight around the stool and staple it into place using a staple gun. Trim the edges.

That's it! For just a few bucks, you can completely change the look of regular stools and make them statement piece in your room.
