Transforming a Dull Bachelor Pad

Kyle lives with his two roommates from college. The guys are busy getting their careers going, so designing their pad is not on their list. Lisa Quinn and the crew team up and transform the living room. They turn it into a cool, modern space that is comfortable and fun to entertain in.
Tips for a Bachelor's Pad:
  • Get it into your subconscious that it is 'uncool' to be messy.
  • An entertainment center is essential in a bachelor pad, but it needs to be kept neat. So cords, videos and game consoles need to be hidden.
  • A trendy coffee table is a nice way to add style to the room. Consider a minimalist route and get yourself a table that is rectangular and low.
  • A serving cart works well for entertaining. You can use it like a mini bar. Make sure you have a martini shaker, glasses and shot glasses. And, of course, you'll need your favorite ingredients for your drinks.
  • To add some pizzazz, find a tall clear vase and fill it with lemons and/or limes.
Shelf Your Artwork:
  • Buy two to three shelves about a couple feet long.
  • Make sure the shelves have a lip, which can hold framed art in place.
  • Pick a few of your favorite framed pieces of art and set them on the shelves.
  • The beauty of displaying your art on shelves is you can change your art regularly without putting a lot of holes in your wall.
Tips for Finding an Entertainment Center:
  • Is your media center cluttered with cords, boxes and remotes? It's time to get organized.
  • Think about how you want to use the media center. Do you want to have your television screen showing or do you want to hide it?
  • Designate a specific drawer or pull out basket to store remotes, and another for game controllers.
  • Organize your Blu-Ray discs and DVDs in separate drawers or baskets.
  • Separate your cords with ties and labels.
