Gingerbread with Rootbeer Poached Pears

The aromatic spicy flavor and sweetness of rootbeer provides a great poaching liquid for the pears. When reduced to a syrup, it pairs beautifully and enhances the gingerbread. Rootbeer is also used in the gingerbread, it's really a ginger cake, and gives it a wonderful aromatic, but subtle flavor.
