Ryan Scott, Carla Hall Share Perfect Party Recipes

After visiting one of the country's hottest food festivals, Chef Ryan Scott is inspired to make some easy and affordable dishes that you can serve at your next party. The Chew's Carla Hall joins him in the kitchen.

Ryan visits one of the biggest food and wine events in the country -- the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival. It is held along the picturesque California Central Coast. There he talks to some of the world's top chefs about what they like to cook when entertaining.

Entertaining and Cooking Tips From Celebrity Chefs:

  • Chef Fabio Viviani says when he entertains he likes to keep it simple by only cooking with three ingredients.
  • Chef Jose Garces of Iron Chef recommends using espelette pepper, which has a slightly smoked flavor. The flavor of the dry Spanish chili gives your food a bit of a spice and gourmet touch.
  • Chef Anne Burrell from the Food Network says to taste your food before you serve it.
After Ryan leaves the festival, he is inspired to create a few dishes that are perfect for entertaining. He visits The Cheese Shop in Carmel for some tips on putting together a cheese platter and he gets the ingredients for his gourmet grilled cheese sandwich -- Hot Jack (Pepperjack), Beecher's Flagship (Creamy) and Swiss Gruyere.

Then, Ryan heads to Ocean Mist Farms in Castroville, California, to pick some fresh artichokes for his easy party appetizers.

Back in the kitchen, Ryan makes grilled artichokes served with a creamy walnut dip and a chipotle and lime mayonnaise. You can really impress your guests with a tasty artichoke platter and they don't have to know how easy it is to prepare!

And, fellow 'Top Chef' alum and co-host of 'The Chew' Carla Hall joins Ryan in the kitchen. They create mini grilled cheese sandwiches served with apricot chutney -- which is another dish to serve at your next gathering.
