Classic Shortbread

  • 4 sticks butter, unsalted
  • 1 cup + 2 TBS Sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar, granulated
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1-1/2 tsp vanilla
  • Orange oil (optional)
  • 3-1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions

1. Have all ingredients room temperature.

2. Cream butter and sugar with paddle on medium speed. Scrape bowl well.

3. Add egg and extract. Mix and scrape bowl well.

4. Add sifted dry ingredients. Mix and scrape bowl well.

5. Wrap dough and chill overnight.

6. Roll out the next day and cut shapes.
