Uses for Coffee Grounds

Most of us love a cup of coffee to get us going in the morning, but did you know that you can get even more mileage from the leftover grounds? Busy mom Andrea Campbell uses coffee grounds to brew up everything from beauty boosters to odor eaters and pest repellants.

Here is a list of Andrea's ideas:

  • Mix together 2 Tablespoons of coffee grounds with a little bit of coconut oil and a scoop of shea butter.
  • Stir until you get a paste-like consistency.
  • Using your fingers, apply is sparingly on your face by rubbing in small circles.
  • Let dry for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Slough off with warm wash cloth.
  • You'll get the proper of moisturizing in addition to the exfoliation benefits of the coffee grounds.
  • Keep a small container of coffee grounds in your shower.
  • Mix with your favorite shower gel or body scrub
  • The more the better because the caffeine in the coffee gives you a great morning boost!
  • Instead of spending top dollar for expensive brands, make your own.
  • Make a paste with coffee grounds and coconut oil.
  • Rub in circular motions for about 3 to 5 minutes then rinse.
  • You can find sachet bags at any local craft store and they're pretty inexpensive.
  • Fill with dried coffee grounds and put them anywhere stinky smells creep up.
  • Think tackle boxes, sports equipment, stinky sneakers and your refrigerator.
  • As most of us know, coffee stains!
  • So why not use it to stain the scratches on your furniture?
  • Make a thick past with coffee grounds and a bit of furniture oil.
  • Rub it on the scratch and hold it with a cloth for about 2 minutes.
  • Wipe off and the color of the coffee grounds should bleed onto the furniture, hiding the imperfections.
  • Sprinkle dry coffee grounds around the perimeter of your yard.
  • Cats find the smell offensive.
  • This means no more unwanted fleas and hairballs!
  • Also it's non-toxic so you don't have to worry about kids or family dogs getting sick.
  • Research has shown that adding coffee grounds to your potting soil can get your plants to grow up to 50% shinier and healthier, especially for PH loving plants.
  • It neutralizes the alkalinity of some plants.
  • Mix it in your garden or potted plants to extend the life of the soil.
Check your local coffee shop. Most give out their used grounds for free!
