Glam Shoe Makeover

From fabulous flats to head turning heels, this "shoe redo" segment will show you how to turn regular ol' shoes into designer-inspired creations - all on a budget!

Want to makeover your shoes from boring to beautiful? Kesha Chatman of Glam Authority shows us how.

"I love finding good deals, and I will not pay full price for anything," says Kesha.

Monogrammed Slipper Shoes

For her first project, Kesha shows how to make a pair of trendy monogrammed slipper shoes.

"If you visit the mall or look online, mongrammed slipper shoes are everywhere," says Kesha. "They're the latest rage."

If you go to a craft store, the monogrammed letters are usually $1.99 or less. Kesha purchased these glittery slipper shoes on sale at a big box store.

Materials:

  • Gloves
  • Glue gun
  • Glue sticks
  • Monogrammed letters
  • A few small pieces of foil
  • A pair of slipper shoes
Directions:

Make sure the shoe surface where the monograms will be placed is clean and free of lint and dirt. Determine where you want to place your monogram and mark it if necessary. Add hot glue on the back of the monogrammed letter and put it on the shoe. Hold it in place for about 30 seconds. The glue dries fast so you want to make sure you work quickly.

Tasselled Ballet Flats

Simple embelilshments at major glam to these plain ballet flats.

"If we were to go out and buy a pair of tasselled ballet flats at the store, I'd say they'd probably cost anywhere from $50 to $75," says Kesha."Ours are a total cost of about $7.50."

Four mini-tassels can be purchased at a craft store for less than $2.

Materials:

  • A pair of gloves
  • Mini tassels
  • Masking tape
  • Bobby pins
  • Push pens
  • A pair of flats
Directions:

Clean the surface. Use tape to determine where you want your tassels to hang and mark the area if necessary. With a push pin, make a hole where you want the tassels to go. Make the hole just big enough to get the thread through from the tassel. Cut the end of the tassel loop so the string hangs long on the tassels in the front. Use the tip of a bobby pen to thread the tassel through the hole. Once both tassel strings are through the hole, tie the strings together in a knot and cut the excess string.

Glittered Platform Heels

Channel your inner party girl with these sparkly heels.

"I want to show you how to add glitter to your favorite pair of platform shoes to create a high-end look," says Kesha. "They're a very popular style right now. You see them everywhere."

Materials:

  • Gloves
  • Newspaper
  • Masking tape
  • Spray fabric or craft glue
  • Two small pieces of aluminum foil
  • Glitter
  • Hairspray
Directions:

Use the masking tape to tape off the boundaries of the platform and the heel of the shoe. You want to cover the remaining area of the shoe with newspaper leaving only the areas that will be glittered uncovered. Place the heels inside a cardboard box. Working in small sections, spray the glue on the platform of the heel and immediately sprinkle with glitter. You want to be very generous when you are sprinkling the glitter. Take a small piece of foil and gently press against the glitter to help set it. Continue until the entire shoe is covered. Repeat the same process on the heel of the shoe. Once the heel and platform are completely covered, lightly spray hair spray over the area to seal the glitter to the shoes. Let it sit for 48 hours.
